隋の学者、杜台卿(とだいけい)の著作『玉燭宝典(ぎょくしょくほうてん)』は、中国の年中行事を総合的にまとめた著作であり、中国思想史・文化史研究に資する非常に豊富な引用文と情報を具備している。また、日本の年中行事にも、大きな影響を与える著作としても知られる。同書の重要性・貴重性はよく認識されているものの、いまだ学術的な利用に耐える整理がなされていない現状にある。本研究は、日本の南北朝時代に書写された古写本（前田育徳会尊経閣文庫蔵）の『玉燭宝典』を適切に整理し、本文研究に基づき詳しい注釈を施す作業を通じ、この貴重な資料の広く利用可能なものとして提供することを目的とする。
また同書は、単なる年中行事書であるのみならず、隋代までに存在した既存資料を組み合わせて作られた編纂物であり、中国で「類書」と呼ばれるものと共通の書物史的背景を有する。『玉燭宝典』は、どのような編纂思想に基づいて編纂されたのか、これについてもあわせて明らかにしたい。
Yuzhu Baodian 玉燭宝典, a work by the Sui Dynasty scholar Du Taiqing 杜台卿, is a comprehensive compilation of Chinese annual events, and contains a great wealth of quotations and information that contributes to the study of the history of Chinese thought and culture.
It is also known as a work that has had a great influence on Japanese annual events. Although the importance and preciousness of this book are well recognized, it has yet to be organized in a way that would allow it to be used academically. The purpose of this study is to provide a widely accessible version of this valuable material by properly arranging and annotating a manuscript of Yuzhu Baodian copied in the 14th century Japan (owned by the Maeda Ikutokukai, Sonkēkaku Bunko).
