COVID-19は、世界中の国々の政治や経済のみならず、人々の社会観や自然観に根源的な動揺を与えた。人間社会の差別や経済状況に即して被害が甚大となる構造に加え、乱開発がもたらすウイルスと人間の頻繁な接触に警鐘が鳴らされている。だが、感染症の歴史は蓄積が膨大であるにもかかわらず、人文科学の研究者は新しい社会観や自然観や未来構想を発信できていない。本プロジェクトでは、感染症の歴史の文献、特に百年前のスペイン風邪の一次史料を、今回並びに次回の危機の際利用しやすいように整理、蓄積する。それと同時に、パンデミックに関するオンライン連続講演を発信する。これによって、さまざまな価値が動揺する時代に対応した、社会観や自然観の再構築にむけた人文学知を形成することを目的としている。
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused fundamental disruption not only in the politics and economies of countries around the world but also in people’s perspectives on society and nature. In addition to the enormous damage caused to human society by discrimination and adverse economic conditions, alarm is being raised over the frequency of contact between viruses and humans brought about by overdevelopment. However, despite the huge volume of historical information regarding infectious diseases, humanities researchers have not been able to fully disseminate new perspectives on society, nature, and future planning. In this project, the history of infectious diseases, particularly the primary sources of the Spanish flu outbreak which occurred about 100 years ago, will be organized and compiled for practical use in both the current crisis and subsequent pandemic crises. Concurrently, the author will present a series of online lectures on pandemics. Thus, this project seeks to formulate humanistic knowledge for the reconstruction of integrated perspectives on society and nature in response to a time in which various values are being shaken.
